The iPod version is a for-sale app and the Mac 'uploader' desktop version is free. The one app I've found and use that does exactly what you describe is FileMagnet. My to-do app (OmniFocus) does sync with wi-fi, but via iDisk, so it doesn't meet your expectation. 'Wish programs like it and to-do apps could sync via wi-fi or usb connection directly to the ibook.' It takes a bit of time, but if you don't plan to transfer notes often, then it's tolerable. Yes, once it's done syncing, the IPT does a reboot. 'It's too bad, though, that it has to reset the IPT in order to synch (did I follow that right?).
